What is on in October.

Here is October at Vantage: what you can come to, and what you are missing.

Coming to one of ours? Take the Vantage Type first.Five minutes, free, and it is how I know who to introduce you to in the room: joinvantage.co/vantage-type. Every guest at a Vantage night takes it before they come.

What you can come to

Oysters and Bubbles, Wednesday, October 7
5:30 PM. Casual, come as you are. The oysters are the excuse: you leave knowing the members in the room and why each of them joined. Non-alcoholic bubbles too. Early bird $47 through September 30, then $67. Free if a member brings you, once you take the Vantage Type.

Shoulders of Giants, Thursday, October 8
A lunch at noon, World Trade Center Seattle. Dr. Michael H. Morris of Notre Dame in conversation with Mike Flynn, benefiting Seattle University’s On-Ramp program (Peter Rowan’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center). $55. Use the code VANTAGE when you reserve.

Celebration of Life: Seattle, Saturday, October 10
Pier 70, doors 11:30 AM through 7 PM. The first event of its kind in Seattle, built by Colleen Coleman: speakers, practitioners, private medium sittings by appointment, and an evening of mediumship. Code VANTAGE10 takes 10 percent off through September 30.

Exceptional Connections, Tuesday, October 13
11:30 AM to 3 PM, Fogo de Chão in Lynnwood, and I am on the panel. Code Vantage: $61.11 all in through September 30, $78.83 after.

The Fall Mixer at The Shop, Wednesday, October 14
5:30 to 8:30 PM, The Shop in SoDo, where Homecoming was: a clubhouse, a bar, and a working car garage under one roof. Free, with a non-alcoholic pour on the bar. You can come as a guest of Vantage: take the Vantage Type first, five minutes, then put your name on the list. That is the whole point. It is how I know who to introduce you to.

The Dreaming Room, Thursday, October 15
6 to 7:30 PM, ARTS at King Street Station. Stephanie Ann Ball’s sound meditation, music, and storytelling. Always free.

What you are missing

Table for Twelve is for members: one person brings a problem, and I pick the eleven people who should be at dinner for it. Every member sits for a fifteen-minute interview that becomes an episode, then gets introductions written with the reason attached. This week’s episode is William Herbert, who told me he was not building anything, only looking for his people.

The part with a date on it.Founding membership is $197 a month, and through September 30 it includes The Shop as your home club: the lounge, the members’ events, a conference room, and guests through the door, with no enrollment fee. On their own, The Shop is $150 a month plus $500 to enroll. After September 30, founding members still get into The Shop on partner days, and a full membership there is The Shop’s own, at their rate. Apply by September 30 and the club stays in your rate for as long as you stay.

Not ready? Take the Vantage Type. It is free, five minutes, and the first thing I read.

Lead a nonprofit? There is a rate for you.The Changemaker rate is $97 a month, or $1,000 for the year, for verified nonprofit leaders. It does not include a home club. It does include access to the rooms, and introductions to exactly what your organization needs: volunteers, mentors, funders, and people who sit on boards. Your organization’s listing is optimized for how people search now, with a what we need this season block that members raise a hand on, and you get your own Vantage Voices episode. One donor or one fundraising opportunity out of it pays for the year.

An organization can come in as one account: $3,000 a year for up to five seats plus a free operator seat.

The magazine, issue two, October

Nominate a Seattle artist, or yourself: joinvantage.co/cover. They get the front page of the site for a quarter, a page in the issue, and introductions to people who buy and commission work.

The print run needs sponsors, about $8 a copy. A stack puts your name on the masthead, the whole run gets the back cover, and printers are welcome. It is advertising, not a donation, so for most businesses it is a deductible marketing expense (your accountant has the last word). Same page: sponsor the print.

Know of something good happening? Put it on the calendar. If you are running an event, or you know one the city should not miss, submit it here: joinvantage.co/events/submit. We are looking for good partners for Halloween, Día de los Muertos, tech networking, and the rest of the year. The whole point is to bring everyone together.
Get the app, if you have not.New episodes land on your phone the morning they are out, so you hear about William from Vantage and not from a feed three days later. The directory, the rooms, and the episodes are in there, free. Vantage for iPhone.
QR code for joinvantage.co/mOn Android? Point your camera at the code, or open joinvantage.co/m in Chrome, then tap the menu and Add to Home screen. Same Home, same tabs, same icon as the iPhone app.

If you read this far, thank you. We are building a new category of thing in this city. If you know someone who should be in these rooms, forward this to them. That is how it grows.
